Foodies Festival, the UK's largest celebration of food and drink, returns in 2013 with events scheduled at Brighton, Tatton Park, Hampton Court Palace, Clapham Common, Bristol, Edinburgh and Oxford. In addition, this year will see the launch of Feast in the Park at Battersea Park in August. Now in its eighth year, Foodies Festival is introducing new elements to all events in 2013.
Brighton food festival organisers are expecting their biggest ever weekend this Easter with three anchor events - the Big Sussex Market, Live Food Show and Children's Food Festival - taking over New Road, Jubilee Square and Victoria Gardens - for an epic two days of great food and drink. The Big Sussex Market on Good Friday 29th and Easter Saturday 30th March will see stalls featuring 80 local growers, producers and restaurateurs selling a huge range of great food and drink.
Huddersfield ice cream producer Yummy Yorkshire has joined forces with fellow Yorkshire business, E Oldroyd & Sons Ltd, to launch a new rhubarb flavoured ice cream as part of its commitment to buy and champion Yorkshire produce. The new 'Rhubarb Pannacotta' ice cream flavour is made using Timperley Early rhubarb, grown by Leeds based E Olyroyds & Sons, who are also known as the 'champion of forced rhubarb producers' and are listed as a Rick Stein Food Hero Producer.
Wallace & Gromit are calling on people across the UK to join The BIG Breakfast from the 22nd - 28th April 2013, to raise thousands of pounds for sick children in hospitals and hospices, by enjoying their BIG Breakfast. People from all walks of life are being invited to take part and host a 'Wallace & Gromit BIG Breakfast' for the week in April and the event, sponsored by Foresters, is being launched with a special Wallace & Gromit Breakfast at Garfunkel's restaurants for children from local hospitals and hospices.
The concerns of veterinary associations about dog welfare and control have been echoed by a cross-party committee of MPs, which has criticised the Government's inaction over these important issues. Vets have welcomed the report, which calls for consolidated legislation and preventive measures to tackle dog control problems and further action to address the welfare issues of dog breeding.
