Henry Westons Cider

Henry Westons Cider

Established in 1880 Westons have been winners of over 35 prestigious cider awards in the last 12 years, including three Gold Medals for ‘Best National Cider’ from CAMRA.

Sticking closely to tradition, Westons produce English ciders and perries just the way people want them to taste, with a characteristic rich style and a flavour simply bursting with fruit.

When Henry Weston came to farm at ‘The Bounds’, he used the fruit from the farm orchards to make cider and perry, as making and drinking these traditional beverages formed part of the pattern of life in the country.

There was always a barrel of cider in the cellar for the family to use and a hogshead in the cider house for the men who, at the start of each day, brought their wooden barrels or ‘costrels’ to the cider house to be filled with the day’s cider allowance.

Nowadays, life is very different and Westons makes over 32 million pints of cider and perry every year and exports to 30 countries worldwide. But what hasn’t changed is the company’s commitment to using the best possible quality fruit, combined with the traditional skills and craft of Jonathan Blair, the company’s Master Cider Maker, to ensure they continue to produce the award-winning ciders and perries that the nation has come to love.

They are all crafted using carefully selected cider apples and matured in old oak vats, some for up to six months. They have a distinct Herefordshire style with a rich, rounded and fruity taste and are suitable for drinking on their own, or as an accompaniment to food.

Celebrating 130 years of business this year, Westons has come a long way since its humble beginnings, but still remains true to its principles of heritage and tradition.

The new look Henry Westons Vintage cider is now available on supermarket shelves, including Asda, Booth, Co-op, Morrisons, Sainsburys, Tesco and Waitrose.
