Volunteer for Crisis This Christmas

If you are homeless or living in hostel accommodation, Christmas can be a lonely and depressing time. For the past 39 years, Crisis at Christmas has helped to alleviate that loneliness. They provide Christmas Centres across London from 23rd to 30th December that offer vital companionship, hot meals and warmth, and a wide range of essential services that homeless people often miss out on.

British Public Supports Funding for HIV/AIDS

A new survey shows that the majority of the British public supports government overseas funding for HIV/AIDS. Brighton, UK: A public perceptions survey conducted by Ipsos MORI and commissioned by the International HIV/AIDS Alliance has found that nearly three quarters (73%) of the British public think it is important that the UK government maintain its spending on HIV programmes overseas.

WOMAD Celebrates 30 Years

WOMAD still bringing the house down after 30 years... There was a surprising collaboration between Echo & the Bunnymen and the Drummers of Burundi at the first ever WOMAD in 1982. At the time Alan James commented that collectively they brought the house down and literally they did; 'a sheep shed famously collapsed under the onslaught of massed 'Burundi rhythms' from an excited crew of new fans'.

Brown Cow Organics Live Organic Christmas Pudding Yoghurt

A seasonal artisan dairy twist to the most traditional of Christmas desserts, Brown Cow Organics have introduced a Christmas pudding live organic yoghurt into their individual 155ml pot range of live yoghurt flavours for the 2011 Christmas season. All their yoghurts are hand processed using their Guernsey herd born, bred and grazed organic whole milk; this process produces naturally thick rich yoghurt so does not need added emulsifiers, stabilisers or thickeners. The yoghurt is then hand poured into recyclable re-usable pots and lids - in keeping with their packaging ethos.

Obika in Canary Wharf

Italy’s favourite restaurant group is to open a standalone London site in Canary Wharf. Italian export Obikà will launch a new restaurant in Canary Wharf on 19th December, bringing the world's best mozzarella, produced by hand from premium buffalo milk, to one of London’s most lively districts.
