World Habitat Day 2012

The United Nations has designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. This year, World Habitat Day will be celebrated on 1st October 2012. The idea is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic right of all, to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat.

St John Ambulance, the nation's leading first aid charity, is again running its Save a Life September. Launched in 2011, the scheme was hugely successful and over 70,000 people received free first aid guides as part of the campaign. This year the charity wants to reach even more people to equip them with vital first aid skills.
