Rum Experience Chef of the Year
Competition now closed.
To mark the arrival of the new Tropical Food Market at this year's festival UK RumFest is searching for the Rum Experience Chef of the Year in association with Barbados Tourism Authority.
The winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the Food & Wine and Rum Festival in Barbados this November.
Open to both novice foodies and professional chefs the Rum Experience Chef of the Year competition will test the entrants' cooking skills in front of a live crowd at this year's UK RumFest.
The chefs are invited to devise a three course menu using rum as a key ingredient in each dish which will be judged pre-show by UK Rum Ambassador Ian Burrell and highly acclaimed rum chef Paul Yellin. Paul, who has travelled the Caribbean discovering how to create unique tasting dishes using rum, will also be demonstrating and giving seminars on how to use rum in cooking at the show.
The top entrants will be cooking off against each other at Cottons Restaurant Camden. Over two days judges, guests and VIP's will be invited to sample the rum menu cooked by the four semi finalists.
The top two will then be invited down to UK RumFest and the Mette Cantina area to compete on the main stage on Sunday 16th October for the prize and title Rum Experience Chef of the Year.
Once all of the contestants' dishes have been tasted by the experts, the winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Barbados to attend the Food & Wine and Rum Festival in November.
We are searching for someone who can take rum as an ingredient and create a dish full of unique, unusual flavours. For those who can cook to a professional standard and for those who enjoy having a dabble in the kitchen, this competition is for you.
