Go Green with Style

BasketBasket is a family run business based in north east Hampshire. What started as a business offering a green alternative to the plastic bag has developed into a stylish range of colourful baskets from handbags to beach baskets. However, BasketBasket never forget their primary eco friendly objective to create a range of useful and beautiful baskets, paying fair trade prices direct to local suppliers.

Having lived in France, founder Virginia fell in love with baskets but could never find them in the UK, so started selling a few in 2007 before launching BasketBasket in October 2008.Basket Basket

They now have baskets from Ghana, Madagascar and Morocco - some new styles due in from Kenya in 2012 - and supply fabulous striped raffia giraffes, also from Madagascar. The baskets are sturdy and hard wearing, offering years of use and excellent value for money. Ideal for all types of shopping, they are also used for visits to the beach, picnics, laundry, household storage and much more. Many people use the round Bolgatanga baskets for storing knitting and sewing too. They make excellent gifts, although most customers like to keep a basket or two for themselves!

We aim to offer something for all tastes - from lightweight couffin baskets to robust reed carriers - and now our baskets are appearing in hotels, delicatessens, garden centres and shops throughout the UK, as well as in homes from California to Japan. Neal's Yard Remedies are using one style for their own in-store shopping basket. The damage from plastic bags to animals and the environment is long lasting and horrific, so we hope that many people will continue to choose a natural fair trade bag or basket for all their shopping trips. After all, they are handmade so each one is chic and unique!
