A Very British Afternoon Tea

A Very British Afternoon Tea

Celebrate all things British with an afternoon tea to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee at Guoman's suitably regal, historic five-star The Royal Horseguards, in London's Whitehall.

Presented on the hotel's intimate outdoor terrace with spectacular views of the iconic river Thames and the London Eye, resident head pastry chef Joanne Todd has designed the exclusive ode to HM The Queen's 60 years on the throne.

For those wanting a more traditional experience, the tea can also be taken in the hotel's elegant lounge, the perfect setting for a very regal afternoon.

The Very British Afternoon Tea includes:

  • A selection of finger sandwiches, including Her Majesty’s favourite - roast beef
  • A delicious selection of very British biscuits shaped as iconic red buses, Union Jack flags, crowns and the Big Ben tower
  • A decadent crown jewel cupcake – too good to be locked up in the Tower of London - and a Yorkshire rhubarb Queen of Pudding
  • Dark chocolate and English peppermint creams are an homage to Queen Elizabeth’s favourite childhood sweets - peppermint creams
  • A Lemon and Martini meringue pie is inspired by her tipple of choice - a Martini finished with a twist of lemon rind
  • Drop Scotch scones with English Bramley apple compote are created just as Queen Elizabeth herself made for President Eisenhower when he visited Balmoral Castle in 1959
  • And to top it off, finish with Traditional Freshly Baked Scones served with homemade English strawberry preserve and Cornish clotted cream.

Normally priced at £35.00 per person, to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee, the 'Very British Afternoon Tea' will be priced at just £20.12 per person from 27th May - 17th June 2012 when booked via www.guoman.com/teaspecial

Foodies can also take advantage of a special two course Jubilee themed menu at the hotel's award-winning One Twenty One Two restaurant for just £20.12 per person (valid from 1 – 5 June 2012) and indulge in two delicious royal champagne cocktails - aptly named 'Jubileeni's' - in the stylish Equus bar for £20.12.
