Funky Stuff for Really Cool Kids at BubbaBOOM
In the past, Elaine McGlynn had often produced bespoke tee-shirts for her kids, family and friends - with great feedback.
Encouraged by this she created BubbaBoom - a clothing line that is as funky as it is ethical and as kind to your baby's skin as it is to the environment and the workers who produce the fabric.
All of BubbaBOOM's clothes are made following the strict Fair Trade practice code and all are made from soft superior quality cotton and most are of organic cotton, perfect for kids' soft skin.
The designs are Elaine's own creations and are hand printed to order, before being individually wrapped in 100% recycled tissue paper, put in a 100% recycled paper BubbaBOOM bag and placed in a biodegradable mailer.
Fair and ethical trading and environmentally friendly working practices
BubbaBOOM garments are made primarily in a factory in East Africa, which is certified as fully compliant with internationally recognised standards of social responsibility and ethical action following the Ethical Trading Initiative Basecode. This means no child labour, forced or migrant workforce is used in the production of our clothing.
The range uses certified GMO free organic cotton grown and harvested without pesticides and chemical fertilizers in 'living soil' that has been free of any toxic chemicals for at least three years.
This means that the soil and water supply are cleaner, which in turn protects the local community and wildlife.
The resulting organic cotton is then processed into fabric without the use of synthetic chemicals. It is kinder to the land and has exceptional softness, elasticity and is gentler on even the most sensitive of skin.
The benefits of organic cotton also extend to the cotton farmers themselves, who in using only organic fertilizers and natural pesticides, are protected from accidents and ill health, which can be the side effects of handling these hazardous chemicals.
And because they are paid a premium price for growing these crops, they are able to lift themselves out of debt and improve their families' standards of living.
BubbaBOOM Quality
The short sleeved tee-shirts, long sleeve baseball t-shirts and new knotted hats are produced from 100% organic cotton in Turkey following the strict guidelines set by The Soil Association, and the Fair Wear Foundation which ensures fair trade, whilst all other organic garments (including hats) are made from 100% certified* organic cotton grown in Uganda.
All garments are made from 100% combed cotton interlock 200 gsm** for natural softness that is big on comfort and by using only nickel free snap poppers in the clothing it all helps to protect babies' sensitive skin.
Only Azo-Free reactive dyes which are kinder to the environment have been used, for vibrant, non-run colours.
