City of Ale 2016 Charity Beer-Naming Competition

City of Ale 2016 Charity Beer-Naming Competition

Competition now closed.

Charity AleEvery year City of Ale supports a local charity by offering a special charity ale, and this year the selected charity is East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH).

The beer has been specially brewed by Woodforde's using premium malt donated by Crisp Maltings. It will be a 4.1% golden fruity session IPA with hints of refreshing tropical fruit and a medium bodied finish, using Goldings, Summit, Cascade, Nelson Sauvin hops.

Woodforde's will be donating 20p for every pint sold to the charity.

"We are thrilled that City of Ale and Woodforde's have chosen to support EACH through sales of their charity beer. EACH cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions and supports their families across East Anglia. Without the valued support from local businesses we would not be able to continue these vital services."

Mark Loades, EACH Corporate and Supporter Development Manager

Norwich City of Ale runs from 26th May to 5th June. It is a ten-day festival taking place in pubs all over the city. 45 pubs will be taking part and around 40 local breweries will offer over 200 different ales. There will be hundreds of events in the pubs and other venues.

The winning name will be selected by a panel from City of Ale and Woodforde's. Tickets for the Launch Party go on sale soon.

For more information visit www.cityofale.org.uk To enter the competition, simply send your suggestions to competition@cityofale.org.uk by the closing date of Friday 15th April 2016

The brand new beer will be available in many City of Ale pubs during the festival and it needs a name! So a naming competition is announced, and the winner will receive two VIP tickets to the City of Ale Launch Party at the Narthex on Thursday 26th May, where they will be presented with a demipin of the ale.

"This new, golden, fruity ale sounds delicious and it's in support of a very special cause, so it deserves a very special name. We look forward to seeing the entries and selecting the winner. And tasting the ale, of course!

Dawn Leeder, Co-Chair City of Ale
