Two Week Countdown to Chocolate Week 2012

Two Week Countdown to Chocolate Week 2012

Chocolate Week, the nation's favourite themed week, returns for an eighth consecutive year in 2012, celebrating the world of fine chocolate from 8th -14th October.

2011 saw over 350 events taking place around the UK, and even more are expected in 2012, with the country's top chocolatiers and chocolate companies, as well as hotels, bars and restaurants celebrating by hosting talks, tastings, demonstrations and sampling, as well as creating exclusive products, new launches, offers, chocolate meals, cocktails and recipes using some of the best chocolate brands from around the world.

Highlights of this year’s week include: -

  • Premier of chocolate film 'Nothing Like Chocolate' featuring The Grenada Chocolate Company's Mott Green www.nothinglikechocolate.com
  • 'Choc Tales from Dean Street' an experiential chocolate and cocktail event taking place in a Georgian house in the heart of Soho
  • Restaurants around the country creating chocolate desserts and donating £1 for each one sold to Action Against Hunger's 'Love Food Give Food' campaign.
  • Direct Cacao panel discussion on the issues facing the chocolate industry focusing on cacao growing.

The week will again culminate with the deliciously indulgent consumer show, Chocolate Unwrapped.

Due to the exhibition's success in 2011, this year it's moving to a bigger venue, a stunning underground space in the heart of London.

Taking place October 13th -14th at the London Film Museum Covent Garden, Chocolate Unwrapped will feature more than 60 exhibitors, with top British chocolatiers and chocolate companies as well as international chocolate makers from around the world.

Around 7,000 visitors will attend the show, to view chocolate art, meet the chocolatiers, attend talks and demos and taste and buy the very best chocolate.

Chocolate Week was set up to promote fine flavour chocolate, the independent artisan chocolatiers and the chocolate companies who work in direct partnership with the cocoa farmers. It aims to encourage consumers to pay a fairer price for their chocolate.
