Aydin Drinks

Aydin Drinks

This month we have been looking at a variety of drinks, ranging from pure water to coconut water, and matcha latte to bubble teas. Today we have been taste testing Aydin drinks - juice in a can with added nata de coco, a chewy, translucent, jelly-like food produced by the fermentation of coconut water.

Choose from Dragon Fruit, Kiwi, or Mango & Rambutan with nata De coco. All made with 30% fruit juice - not from concentrate.
Aydin Drinks
Dragon Fruit - 30% fruit with 8.5g sugar and 36 kcal per 100ml. This is a very sweet drink which really tastes like dragon fruit. We love the little nata de coco lumps in the can.

Kiwi - 30% fruit from concentrate with 9g sugar and 38 kcal per 100ml, this one has more sugar than dragon fruit but the kiwi makes this a lighter, crisp drink. The nata de coco tastes crunchier and more chewy too.

Tamarind - 30% tamarind juice with 4.7g sugar and 21 kcal per 100ml this tamarind flavour won over Sarah and Andy, but it wasn't my favourite. Andy preferred it because it tasted less sweet, due to the lower sugar content.

Although these cans had some of the highest sugar content in the drinks we have tried this month, surprisingly they have the lowest calories per 100ml.

We caught up with Nazma Bibi - Managing Director of B&R Distribution Ltd - to find out more about the woman behind the business.

"I have a business family background, having grown up in a takeaway in the 1990s. My parents and brothers ran shops and built a property portfolio, while I studied international business at Greenwich University; making lots of international friends along the way. My interest in import/export business developed from those meetings. Soon after graduating I got married and started a family. As my family grew, I made a decision to build my own importing business, and moved on to create my own brands and products. The vision is to import and supply excellent quality unique and niche food & drink products at affordable prices, giving wholesale and end-user customers the best value for money".
