The UK's second Climate Week, running from the 12th -18th March 2012, is to stage Britain's biggest showcase of solutions to climate change and you can join in and help to make a difference.

Climate Week will create an opportunity for individuals and organisations to share ideas, develop new collaborations, motivate their peers and inspire others to act on climate change.

Thousands of high-profile UK institutions, experts, activists, parliamentarians and leaders from every part of society have already committed to supporting Climate Week.

Climate Week is supported by eminent figures from Prime Minister David Cameron to leading environmental figures such as Al Gore, the former executive director of Friends of the Earth, Tony Juniper and the former CEO of Greenpeace International Paul Gilding.

Celebrities including Sir Paul McCartney, fashion royalty Vivienne Westwood and Naomi Campbell, and actress Gillian Anderson have also given their support.

Leading organisations from all sectors of society including the CBI, the NHS and the National Association of Head Teachers are also supporting the campaign.

Climate Week is supported by Headline Partner, Tesco, and Supporting Partners Aviva, EDF Energy and SodaStream.

Climate Week 2011 saw half a million people involved in over 3,000 events run by schools, businesses, charities, councils and many others.

Some key highlights for Climate Week from 12 to 18 March 2012 include:

The Climate Week Awards: with 14 categories ranging from 'Best Community Initiative' to 'Biggest Technological Breakthough' the deadline for award entries is Monday 30th January 2012. The Climate Week Challenge: taking place on Monday 12th March from 9 a.m. - 2 pm, the challenge will once again see thousands of schools and workplaces simultaneously tackling the same task as part of Britain's biggest live environmental competition. Challenge judges include BBC presenters Kate Humble and Liz Bonnin, and Spooks actress Sophia Myles. Last year's event saw over 140,000 people taking part and resulted in some truly inspiring ideas like the Fidgit, a gadget that converts the energy of fidgeting children into electricity. Climate Week is about showcasing the many practical ways people can do their bit to combat climate change. The first Climate Week in 2011 saw half a million people attending 3,000 events and we hope that the second Climate Week in March 2012 will make an even bigger contribution to generating action on the scale required.
