The Cotswolds Distillery was founded by Dan Szor, who gave up his 30 year career as a hedge fund manager to invest £4million into the start-up of this rural distillery.

Set in a 5 acres of beautiful Cotswolds countryside and housed in a stunning Cotswolds stone building, the distillery is the first of its kind in the area, and only one of five whisky distilleries in the entirety of the UK. Producing ultra-premium, small batch Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky, in addition to Cotswolds Dry Gin, an innovative English rye whisky and a range of high quality artisanal liqueurs, the Cotswolds Distillery is all set to create world-class products with a true sense of provenance.

This month sees the availabilty of the Cotswold Dry Gin. With an RRP £34.95, it will be available online and from selected wine and spirits merchants.

"Our Cotswolds Dry Gin has a delectable blend of nine carefully-considered botanicals. The expression of the traditional London dry style comes from the maceration into our pure wheat spirit of juniper, coriander and angelica root, which have been left for 24 hours to allow their flavour characteristics to fully infuse. We then add our unique botanical mix of Cotswolds lavender and bay leaf, grapefruit, lime, black pepper and cardamom seed into our carter head still for distillation before finishing with naturally refined Cotswolds water. The result is a classic well-balanced juniper-led gin with crisp citrus and spice."

Designed with visitors in mind and offering exclusive tour and tasting packages at the beautiful distillery in the heart of the Cotswolds, October will see the opening of the visitors centre at the Cotswold Distillery.

During these sessions, guests will be able to enjoy a G&T in the bar or pick up a distillery exclusive or two at the onsite shop, after being shown the bespoke distillation equipment. Cotswold Distillery CompanyGuests may even be able to watch the herd of Cotswolds cattle fattening up on any spent barley mash in the neighbouring field, whilst learning the 'how-to' of whisky and gin distillation from expert tour guides.

With a real focus on where the food and drink that is consumed comes from, the Cotswolds Distillery is passionate about sourcing and employing local suppliers and producers to help create spirits that not only taste delicious but that represent the Cotswolds and invest back into the local area.

Organically grown barley from farms less than 20 miles away and Warminster Maltings; the oldest working maltings in the UK (less than 50 miles away), are just a few of the local businesses that the Cotswolds Distillery are proud to be working with.

The first limited edition batch of 5000 bottles of Organic Odyssey Single Malt Whisky is now available for reservation ahead of its release in 2017. The production of the Cotswolds Dry Gin has begun with the distillation of the single-botanical library which is currently being utilised for recipe development before full time production begins in September.
