Heading to Reading

Heading to Reading

Last Saturday, 21st February 2026, we woke up and made the last-minute decision to head up to Reading for a day of discovery. A chance share on social media highlighted a food van we simply had to try and, as escape room enthusiasts, we felt compelled to visit the Knockout Escape Rooms.

Nibsy's

A dedicated gluten-free coffee and cake trailer, serving up great speciality coffee - alongside a range of delicious, handmade, gluten-free sweet and savoury delights, with dairy-free and plant based options too. Nibsy's LogoThe Nibsy's coffee trailer is all about making tasty and safe gluten-free food more enjoyable and convenient for visitors in and around Reading Train Station. With a coffee trailer named Beryl, Nibsy's are on a mission to make easy eating available to everyone who needs to find gluten-free food in a hurry.

The main issue we have when we are out and about is finding fast food, on-the-go snacks, and places to eat without having to always pre-plan. Many times we end up skipping meals, or eating some questionable offerings. But free-from fast food doesn't have to be under par, and the queue waiting to be served at Nibsy's was an encouraging start. On Saturday we got to Beryl just in time to snag the last piece of pizza on the stand. To join the pizza we secured two sausage rolls, egg sandwiches, a handful of doughnuts, a selection of cakes, and of course a cup of coffee too. We wanted to ensure we had a great selection to bring home and taste test after our escape room adventure.

Knockout Escape Rooms

Knockout Escape Rooms are a live interactive escape gamespace located in Reading. If you enjoy riddles, puzzles, problem-solving and a challenge then escape rooms should be on your list wherever you go. If you are looking for award-winning, challenging games then Knockout Escape Rooms are a premium choice for players of all ages. Knockout Escape Rooms logoEscape rooms are a great choice for corporate team building, delivering a thrilling and exciting team challenge. We play as a duo, which is even more challenging but if you can pull a group together then more minds may make lighter work of the challenges you are going to face. Having played over 80 escape rooms, The Locktopus on offer at Knockout has to be the best we have encountered to date. Is this because it is different to any other room we have entered? Or because it's like walking into someone else's mind; full of problems to solve, puzzles that distract and a clear objective on screen that you are meant to follow, yet everything in the room is so incredibly distracting in the most attractive and intriguing way.

We only had a short day in Reading and by the time we had played the third game, the sun had set and we headed back to the car for the 90 minute drive home. Was it worth it? Yes. Would we go again? Most definitely - but this time we would get there earlier and enjoy fresh coffee and brunch without having to rush, and we will take a team back to spend another 60 minutes together in the Locktopus hive.
