Bag A Free Children's Book for World Book Day

Get ready to smile, laugh and read along.

World Book Day is back on 1st March 2012 with a set of eight new children's books from Britain and Ireland's finest authors.

Young people can pick one of the must-reads for free with a £1 World Book Day Book Token, which will be handed out in schools from January 2012.

All eight books go on shelves from the end of February Bigdayoutas part of World Book Day's quest to show young people how magical reading can be.

Children of all ages can discover 'Roald Dahl's Fantabulous Facts', be treated to a 'Big Day Out' from Jacqueline Wilson, search for Wally in the 25th anniversary edition of Martin Handford's 'Where's Wally Now?' or start singing along to 'The What The Ladybird Heard Song' with Children's Laureate Julia Donaldson.

Families will be kept entertained by a very hungry Toothless the dragon in Cressida Cowell's latest How to Train Your Dragon adventure, 'The Day of the Dreader'.

The accident-prone Winnie the Witch will be back in another hilarious adventure from the imaginations of Valerie Thomas and Korky Paul - 'Winnie Flies Again'.

Youngsters will be charmed by magical Molly's newest friend in Holly Webb's 'Magic Molly: The Clever Little Kitten'.

Whilst older kids should be prepared to be spooked by the newest instalment of Derek Landy’s Skulduggery Pleasant series, 'The End of the World'’.

We can't wait to get the whole country sharing stories in time for World Book Day on 1st March 2012. The £1 World Book Day Book Tokens are a great way to get young people of all ages started and there are some brilliant events lined up that will make this year's World Book Day bigger and better than ever before.

Now in its 15th year, World Book Day is celebrated in over 100 countries worldwide and annually World Book Dayteams up thousands of schools and nurseries in Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales with bookshops and libraries for everything from sponsored dress-ups and competitions to big events with their favourite authors and illustrators.

Former Children's Laureate Michael Morpurgo, columnist and author, Grace Dent and singer, TV personality and children's author, Peter Andre are among some of the famous faces taking part in this year's event.

World Book Day will be celebrated with the first UK-wide literary online festival streamed live from London's Southbank, featuring some of the country's best-loved authors.

And a new app, featuring digital-only downloads from popular teenage writers such as Anthony Horowitz, Charlie Higson and Malorie Blackman will be also available to download.
