What Do Mothers Really Want for Mother's Day?
What do mothers really want for Mother's Day?
As a mother of two grown up children I feel I am experienced enough to answer this question, for myself and many other mothers I have met over the years. According to a survey by Child's Play Communications, aside from gifts made by their children, mums would be most happy with a day to relax and be "off duty".
And I have to agree. OK - in addition to my day off I would still like the chocolates and flowers but if none are forthcoming then the day off works for me. But not if the day off only means I have double the work load to tackle the next day.
So aside from my day off I would also like someone to have a 'day on' - someone to do the wash and clean, walk the dogs, cook and tidy up and have everything done so I can really enjoy my day. Because there is nothing worse than trying to relax while you are watching tomorrow's workload double.
After you have made sure that a day off is really that, those looking to spoil their mother and reward her with a chance to unwind need look no further than the luxury country house retreat, Ashdown Park Hotel & Country Club in Wych Cross, which will be hosting two special Mother's Day events on Sunday 30th March from 12.30pm. Mothers need not cook, nor indeed lift a finger, as they will be indulged with the first class service that Ashdown Park is renowned for. Choose from two decadent treats of a sumptuous three course lunch or Champagne Afternoon Tea.
If the budget won't stretch to eating out or you are looking to relax at home, then a good home-cooked meal (again with someone else doing the washing up) will make the day equally as special for many mothers this March. Take a look at some of the great local producers in your area and use this chance to put your culinary skills to work to create a special meal while supporting your local community of producers.
Fresh cut flowers always make a nice gift but if you are looking for something that will last a little longer then a delightful present for Mum this Mother's Day comes from Seed Pantry, who are offering three delightful new wild flower seed growing kits, perfect for budding growers and green-fingered Mums.
For Mums and their little one, the Mum and Me Flowers and Veg Seeds Starter Packs are a great way to get the whole family involved in growing wild flowers, vegetables and herbs. Priced at £36.50 the Mum and Me Flowers and Veg pack is ideal for those new to gardening and experienced growers alike.
Next to flowers, chocolates are a fabulous choice. Even though us mums are usually on a life long diet, we often manage to fit chocolates into the mix. By choosing chocolates with less fat and more cocoa you can cut the calories and still keep us mums happy; after all chocolate is technically a fruit, isn't it?
Have a look at some of the great chocolatiers that are now producing quality chocolates at an affordable price before you head down to the local garage for a mainstream box. A little bit of luxury goes a long, long way and with some of the amazing flavour combinations being created today we will only need a small selection to satisfy our sweetest tooth.
Of course, if all else fails, many of us mums would be more than happy just to see our children or have a chat, so make your Mum happy this Mother's Day and pick up the phone if you can't arrange a visit.
