In the approach to this weekend's Allergy & Free From Show at Olympia (7-9 June), which is regarded as a major highlight in the free from food retailers calendar, Fria, Sweden's most successful, award-winning gluten-free bakery and the market-leader in the Scandinavian countries, has announced that its products are now available in the UK through more than sixty online and independent retailers including GoodnessDirect.

Honeybuns, the award-winning bakery based in Dorset, will be setting new standards in the realm of off-the-shelf home baking mixes with the launch of their Sponge Cake Mix, the first of three eagerly awaited new gluten-free home baking mixes. This versatile Cake Mix has a nuttiness and slightly caramelised flavour owing to the use of ground flaxseed and brown sugar respectively.

We discovered Chia at the Natural & Organic Product Show 2013 at Olympia, where this tiny seed was being billed as "Nature's Complete Superfood" . Chia, available in two colour varieties, is high in nutrition that is essential for a healthy diet, including Omega 3, dietary fibre and protein - as well as vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

On Saturday 11th May 2013 the Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa welcomed guests to an evening of gourmet gluten-free dining with guest speaker Martin Vozar, co-founder of CELIA lager. With a delicious gluten-free menu, paired wines and an entertaining guest speaker the evening was guaranteed to be a success.

The arrival of gluten-free pre-packaged paninis from Freedom Deli signals the start of a new era in free from freedom. Grabbing a quick snack in a deli or cafe can be a real chore if you follow a gluten-free diet. Many of the ready-packaged offerings available leave a lot to be desired, with lack lustre fillings on a cardboard bed of 'bread' - and if you are lucky enough to find fresh, the worry of cross-contamination can be enough to stop your appetite in it's tracks.
