Tea Time in the Sun
Nothing brings the teapot out in to the garden more than a few sunshine days - and this week the UK seem to be making the most of our favourite tipple while the early Summer sun makes its first appearance.
So we thought we would take a look at some of the tea and tea alternatives currently on our radar.
Now, nothing quite says tea like a cup of freshly brewed Jing tea. From a perfectly balanced Earl Grey, to a healthy Matcha green tea, Jing have tea to suit every taste - and top our list today. The aim for Jing is to inspire the world to enjoy tea at its best, because they believe in tea that is as delicious as it is uplifting to the spirit. It's not just a drink - it's an experience.
Nipping at their heals is the fabulous and fruity varieties available from teapigs. More affordable, and accessible but in good company, as they produce some of our favourite choices too (who knew tea could be so much fun!). Nick and Louise started their company in November 2006 with one mission - to get the nation drinking real tea again. They met whilst working for a really big tea company, where they realised that there is a whole world of quality teas out there that simply weren't getting the attention they deserved. The solution - teapigs.
Our top picks would not be complete without including the family favourite, Ringtons, whose story dates back to 1907 - with the company still remaining a family business today. Samuel Smith OBE moved from his home town in Leeds and began selling tea from a horse and cart in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Now, 111 years after Samuel began his business, Ringtons continue to deliver door-to-door for over 260,000 customers throughout the UK. And along with your tea you can also order coffee, biscuits, and other accessories to suit your tea needs!
Pop along to Conduit Street the next time you are in London, and visit The East India Company, where you will find that the 'tales of tea' and this company are deeply intertwined. First introduced by The East India Company to Britain as a gift to the King Charles II in 1664, tea soon became an inseparable part of British culture. Today, their meticulously curated tea library offers over 120 varieties - enough to satisfy curious minds and connoisseurs alike.
On my desk today, and most days this week, you will find my personal favourite at the moment from Pukka, which is their Lemon, Ginger & Manuka Honey variety. It is the mainstay of my digestive day, settling my system ready to face whatever the morning brings. Pukka create delicious organic herbal teas, and incredible health supplements that can take you on a journey to a healthier life.
So, while the sun is still shining, dust off the lid and rinse the teapot through with some hot water, ready to brew a cup of the nations favourite!
