Toast Summer's End with a Strawberry 'Sundowner' Caipirinha

Bring a touch of Rio sunshine and a flavour of Brazil to your palate, with Galeto's refreshing Strawberry 'Sundowner' Caipirinha - the perfect way to toast the end of summer.

Evoking images of the sun drenched Ipanema beach and warm Brazilian evenings, this flavoursome blend is guaranteed to lift your spirits, even if the heat wave fails to re-appear.

Ingredients

  • 50ml of cachaca
  • 5 Limes
  • 1 cup of strawberries
  • 10 tbsp Demerara sugar
  • 1 kg cubed ice

Procedure

  1. Press and roll the limes on a chopping board with the heel of your hand to get the juices flowing before cutting them into wedges and squeezing each into a large jug.
  2. After the juices have been squeezed, add the squeezed wedges and mash ½ a cup of fresh strawberries.
  3. Add the mashed strawberries and Demerara sugar to the jug and use a large wooden spoon to smash and mix the ingredients together.
  4. Half fill the jug with cubed ice and pour in the cachaca and mix again.
  5. Pour into a glass and garnish with a large fresh strawberry and sprig of mint.
