Horsham Festival of Sound SeptemberFest Kick-Off

Horsham Festival of Sound SeptemberFest Kick-Off

The Festival of Sound was set up in the summer of 2011 as a non-profit-making community project to bring the people of Horsham FREE outdoor live music events.

This year The Festival of Sound SeptemberFest Kick-Off event is being held on Sunday 2nd September 2012 and will feature 50 brilliant live music acts on five separate stages in Horsham town centre.

The Carfax Stage will feature the acts with the broadest appeal, while there are specialist stages for Rock, Originals, Acoustic and Blues Jazz & Soul - with the first bands on stage from 11am, the event will run until 10pm.

The organisers have been knocked out by the response from bands wanting to play at the SeptemberFest Kick-Off this year, with bands from all over the South East, London, The Midlands and even a Russian band wanting to play!

They have worked through each application to make sure that they provide a line-up of the quality and variety that Fos Posterpeople have come to expect.

The music lovers of the Horsham area are a very discerning crowd and want to make sure that the event lives up to their expectations!

This year's strong line-up of acts includes the 80-piece "Horsham Rock Choir", popular Elvis Presley tribute "Almost Elvis", rising stars "Pirate & Cobie" and "Half Hour Hotel", London-based dance electro pop band "Ooberfuse", piano and vocal duo "Easy Livin'", 80s hair-metal tribute "Iron Tyger", plus previous Horsham Battle of the Bands winners, "Tell Wolves Tales", and "The Collector".

The SeptemberFest Kick-Off is the launch for a month of live music events in the Horsham area which will be associated with Festival of Sound.

Putting on a live music event of this magnitude cannot be achieved without the support and generosity of everyone involved.

Bands and committee members donate their time, members of the public generously fill collection buckets at the events and the organisers rely heavily on sponsorship from local businesses.

They have been working with local and national businesses and presenting them attractive sponsorship packages, to secure the funding which is necessary to enable the September events to go ahead.

Offers of sponsorship, however big or small, from any local business or individual are always welcome and anyone interested in discussing sponsorship can get in touch via email at sponsorship@festivalofsoundhorsham.co.uk

Festival of Sound events are an excellent platform for fundraising and supports local and national charities.

Choosing charities that are appropriate partners is always a challenge and this year organisers have chosen to enter partnership with St Catherine's Hospice and Cancer Research.

Several members of the committee have been touched in recent years by Fos Logoevents that are central to both these charities' activities and it was felt they would be appropriate to work with.

You can show your support and donate online to the events 'Just Giving' pages for both charities by visiting FoS St Catherine's Hospice and FoS Cancer Research UK

Festival of Sound was established in 2011 as a not-for-profit community project when Horsham District Council approached the well-known supporter of local live music, Sharon Dow, to curate a live music event to coincide with The Big Nibble.

The brief was to provide a line-up that reflected a cross-section of the bands in the Horsham area whilst catering for the diverse tastes of Horsham's wider population.

Sharon assembled a team who called on their contacts within Horsham's music scene, gradually took over large aspects of the organisation of the event and delivered 32 bands across 6 stages for an event that ran without a hitch.

Horsham Town Centre Manager, Garry Mortimer-Cook, was so impressed that Festival of Sound was chosen to organise last year's town centre Hallowe'en live music event and to provide the bands and stages for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Jamboree Tea Party on 4th June.

The SeptemberFest Kick-Off event galvanises that relationship which should see Horsham District Council's commitment to live music further flourish over the coming years.
