The Source Visited Terme di Saturnia Resort and Spa
Situated in a beautiful corner of Tuscany, Northern Italy is the Terme di Saturnia Resort and Spa. The Source graciously accepted a kind offer to visit and review the amazing setting and services that ‘Terme’ have to offer.
At the airport we were greeted by an Italian speaking driver from the Spa and from that moment we started out on a trip to remember.
Since our Italian did not stretch further than “gracious” we thought we were looking at a long silent journey out to the Spa; we were in fact wrong, the transfer from the airport was approximately two hours of non-stop talking while we thoroughly enjoyed soaking up the stunning scenery. Sometimes not sharing a language is not such a barrier when in the right location.
Upon arrival at the spa we received a warm greeting and all the information we would need about the hotel and spa facilities before being shown to our room.
The rooms range from a standard to complete suites and we had been allocated a standard room but it was far from that; fitted with a luxury bathroom and ambient décor within the bedroom - we were more than impressed.
Everything in the hotel and Spa is made to cater for wellbeing and total relaxation - from the décor throughout the hotel to the amazing treatments and tantalizing food.
There are several restaurants to choose from, all of which cater for individual requirements.
We tried and tested two treatments during our stay - a ‘hydralift’ and a ‘pada-hasta’.
The hydralift is a facial which took 40 minutes and was the ultimate in relaxation, leaving our skin feeling deeply clean, refreshed and smooth. We were also given detailed advice on which products would benefit our skin - all of which are available to purchase at the spa.
The pada-hasta involved a 40 minute hand and foot massage focusing on the pressure points and again we found this to be deeply relaxing - and so soothing it was difficult to avoid drifting off to sleep!
There is always something to do at the spa, so if you are not feeling so relaxed you cannot move following your treatments, you could also take advantage of the thermal pools, jacuzzi, café, juice bar or boutique.
The only extra advice we would offer is that it is inadvisable to take silver jewellery with you as the sulphur in the natural spa will cause it to tarnish.
