Gluten-Free Sausages Packed Full of Flavour from Heck
The sun is out and so is the barbecue but the simple pleasure of tucking into a plump, juicy sausage can lose its sparkle if you can't eat gluten. Well, two Yorkshire farmers are on a mission to change all that this summer and to make gluten-free barbecue food fabulous again.
Every sausage in the couple's new HECK range is completely gluten-free.
Debbie and Andrew Keeble, the farmers behind HECK, developed their range after a string of customer requests for more gluten-free recipe choice than the common-or-garden plain pork variety.
They have made their meaty sausages with a special gluten-free breadcrumb and with none of the great taste of a good sausage left out.
HECK sausages are made from a small production unit close to the family farm in Bedale, North Yorkshire. They use only high welfare, fully traceable fresh British pork shoulder (min 85%) and their gluten-free breadcrumbs that taste as good, if not better, than the real thing.
The only additions are simple herbs, seasoning and natural casings, plus a few other favourite ingredients when they're feeling adventurous.
The packaging they have designed is also a breath of fresh air, with their sausages housed in a neat rainbow of colourful packs to liven up the dull and dusty sausage shelves.
