Fifth Dimension Chocolates Win Gold

Fifth Dimension Chocolates' New York Apple and Calvados Caramel Filled Chocolate has received a prestigious Gold Award at the International Chocolate Awards' British National Competition.

The Big Apple inspired creation is one of the most challenging filled chocolates produced by Fifth Dimension Chocolates' chief chocolatiers Russell and Albert, and their attempts to recreate a delicious New York Apple pie didn't disappoint, as it provided a divine sensory experience for the judging panel.

In fact the 'New York' handcrafted chocolate set itself so far away from any other caramel filled chocolate in the competition that it was the only one to be awarded Gold in the two 'Chocolate Enrobed Caramels' categories.

Speaking about the significant win at the International Chocolate Awards - which recognises excellence in fine chocolate from around the world - Fifth Dimension Chocolates' co-founders Russell and Albert said:

"Our aim is always to push the boundaries on the flavours of our chocolates, based on our travel and culinary experience. With the New York chocolate we set out to recreate the flavour of a classic apple pie drizzled with a silky-smooth salted caramel sauce, which we tasted in New York once on a cold winter's day."

Also tantalising the judge's taste buds was Fifth Dimension Chocolates’ Hong Kong Soy Caramel. With inspiration taken from the city of skyscrapers and its mystical traditions this malty-sweet soy caramel is sumptuously rich yet alluringly smooth. Fifth Dimension ChocolatesPaying homage to the city that loves to eat, the mouth-watering filled milk chocolate gained them a Bronze award in the same group.

Fifth Dimension Chocolates continued to impress in the 'Ganaches or truffles using mixed dark / milk / white for coating and fillings' category where they took home their third accolade, a second Bronze award for their Kagoshima Yuzu and Pink Peppercorn chocolate, inspired by the Japanese island of Kyushu. Once bitten, this attention-grabbing yellow speckled dome of pure pleasure explodes a mix of citrusy-sour yuzu suffused with the warmth of pink peppercorn.

The International Chocolate Awards' British National Competition was judged at York's Grand Hotel in April by an expert panel that included pastry chefs, restaurateurs, journalists and other specialists from the York area, as well as members of the International Grand Jury panel. All winners in the British National Competition can now take part in the World Final, to be held in London this October.
