Vote Now to Crown Brighton and Hove Project as Winners of the National Lottery Awards
Inspirational local project, Harvest Brighton and Hove, has reached the final of the National Lottery Awards in the Best Environment Project category and now need everyone to show their support as the final voting stage opened on Tuesday 11th September.
The National Lottery Awards are the annual search to find the UK's favourite projects.
They recognise the life-changing difference that National Lottery funding makes to communities across the UK.
The winner in each category, decided by public vote, will be celebrated at a special star-studded BBC One Show later in the year.
Since Harvest started they have more than doubled the number of community gardens in the city, with thousands of people now growing their own fruit and vegetables as a result of the training and volunteering opportunities offered by Harvest.
The project also has a demonstration vegetable garden in Preston Park; one of the biggest parks in Brighton and Hove.
Harvest also provides a social network for local gardening enthusiasts through the Garden Share scheme.
Linda Hirschberg owns her own garden but did not have the time to maintain it. Thanks to Harvest, she was matched with two other local enthusiasts, Kate Ormond and Antonia Preciado who now share her garden.
An inspiring friendship between the three ladies has developed since the project began and has made a real difference in all of their lives.
Film and Video agency, Bruizer, have produced an inspirational film to showcase the impact Harvest is having in Brighton and Hove which is now available for you to watch.
