"The Jumblies" - a play inspired by the verse of Edward Lear...
'Far and few, far and few, are the lands where the Jumblies live. Their heads are green and their hands are blue and they went to sea in a sieve.'
Journey with the tiny Jumbly family as they sail to the Chankly Bore in search of the key to growing bigger. Along the way they meet a host of Edward Lear's most loved characters.
An exuberant musical voyage about friendship, family and the childlike desire to escape.
Writer Fiona McDonald was born and brought up in Edinburgh, she studied Drama and Theatre Arts, specialising in Playwriting, at Queen Margaret University.
The Jumblies is her first Fringe show. She is currently a resident writer with Edinburgh's Tightlaced Theatre.
Theatre Paradok is an Edinburgh University performing arts society. An inclusive and growing collective of Edinburgh residents, they are dedicated to producing lively and experimental theatre. Last year, ‘The Conference of the Birds’ was a sell out success.
Edward Lear is the quintessential nonsense poet, born in Holloway, London, in 1812.
Lear was the twentieth son of a financially troubled family and he was primarily a self-taught poet and painter.
Celebrated for it's vivacity and originality, Lear's verse revels in the fantastical and imaginary.
2012 is the 200th anniversary of his birth.
