Rum on the River Launches RumFest 2012

Rum on the River Launches RumFest 2012

London's ExCeL Exhibition Centre, will host RumFest for the first time on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th October, providing the location for an unrivalled combination of the rarest and most delicious rums from across the globe.

We were very pleased that the sun decided to join us as the Kokova Magazine (YST) team travelled up to Festival Pier, on the River Thames, to take part in Rum on the River; the launch party for RumFest 2012.

After being greeted by Ella and the team from Full Fat, who are responsible for all RumFest press relations, our Rum on the River experience got under way.

Upon boarding the boat it took a short while for some of us to find our 'sea legs' and get into the rhythm of the swish and sway but the Caribbean style music emanating from the upper deckleft soon got everyone's feet moving to the same beat - as we were greeted with rum cocktails, delivered by feathered dancers in full carnival costume.Angosturarum

This was looking to be a good day...

For the next few hours we were introduced to a selection of rum cocktails made in a variety of colour and flavour combinations and with so many to choose from, everyone was able to find a cocktail to suit their taste.

And for those who like their rum without any added flavours, we were delighted when the bottles of Angostura rum joined the party!

With no added frill, the wonderfully smooth flavour of this rum simply glided over our taste buds, without leaving any harsh notes or tones. If you haven't yet tried rum in its nakedness then you won't go far wrong with Angosturarum for your virgin drink.

We were treated to a selection of tempting snacks to compliment the rum, courtesy of Cottons Caribbean Restaurant and served by the fabulous dancers and waiting staff; who all managed to stay level regardless of the river's sway.

Even when the Thames joined in with the party beat and got a little rock 'n' roll the drinks kept coming on a steady stream, although for some party goers the sway may have had less to do with the sudden swell and more to do with indulging in a few too many cocktails...

All in all this was the perfect launch to RumFest 2012 and we are definitely looking forward to next month's event. For more information and to book tickets visit www.rumfest.co.uk
