Love Food Game Cookery Special
After a very successful event at Newark Park in June Love Food will be returning to the quirky Tudor hunting lodge for a second Festival on Sunday 14th October 2012 from 11am - 5pm.
Set amidst acres of park and woodland this National Trust property offers the perfect venue for an event which celebrates honest, seasonal food, family activities and the great outdoors.
Even better - with plenty of bike trails, bridleways and public footpaths around there are more ways than one to get to this beautiful location and have a food loving day out the whole family can enjoy.
With pheasant, rabbits, deer and other game in the grounds of Newark Park, the culinary emphasis of this Love Food Festival will be on game and foraging, with the 'Hendra Barns Cookery School' and 'Forage Fine Foods' providing a selection of cookery demonstrations and activities that will educate and inspire visitors on all aspects of preparation and cooking of these wonderful meats and autumnal foods.
With demonstrations running all day visitors will not only be able to learn some great game-loving recipes, such as foraged crab apple and acorn stuffing and heather and whimberry glaze, but learn how to make the most of the animal through 'nose to tail eating'.
Other hands on lessons will include learning how to pluck a pheasant or skin a rabbit, as well as being on hand to give advice and tips on all other aspects of game hunting, butchery and foraging.
Equally inspired by the neighbouring parks and woodland, children's activities at this Love Food Festival will be a series of bush-craft workshops and activities.
Den-making, how to make a fire, woodcarving, lessons in tying different knots and hitches and bow and arrow making will all be on offer, along-side the important message of respecting the countryside and the importance of leaving no trace.
There will of course be face painting and a drawing table for the younger visitors.
The Love Food market will be packed full of gorgeous local produce, ranging from freshly made bread to botanical fruit vinegars, sausages to mackerel, local cider to luxury hot chocolate.
The picnic area will be decked out with a great assortment of street food, including spicy curries, gorgeous 'sole in a roll' fish baps, homemade lemonades and delicious pizzas made to order, making it the perfect place to come for lunch and enjoy the great music and friendly atmosphere which Love Food Festivals have become so famous for.
