Limited Edition Taste Cumbria Festival Bread
Organisers of this year's Taste Cumbria Food Festival today announced the involvement of Silloth's Carrs Breadmaker as sponsors of this year's event.
This is the second year that the company has supported the festival, which makes a return to Cockermouth on September 24th and 25th 2011.
To mark the occasion, Patrick Moore of More? Artisan Bakery in Staveley has created a limited edition festival loaf, which uses three of Carrs flour products.
The exclusive Taste Cumbria loaf, a variation on Patrick's Sourdough bread which won 3-star gold at this year’s Great Taste Awards, is made with Carrs Wholemeal and Samson flours and enjoys a long fermentation period, being left to rise in baskets for about 24 hours before baking in 2 kilo round tins.
The third flour used in the loaf remains Patrick's secret ingredient!
Patrick will be selling the limited edition Taste Cumbria sourdough loaf to visitors from his stand at the festival, making the perfect edible souvenir.
I was delighted to create this festival loaf - it is a fantastic bread, with phenomenal keeping qualities and has a slight acidic tang due to the long fermentation process. We've emblazoned the loaf with the Taste Cumbria logo - that’s exactly what we want people to do when they taste it.

Carrs Breadmaker flour is available in Strong White, Strong Brown, and Wholemeal, each Carrs Breadmaker flour is sympathetically milled using low pressure milling and is then blended to produce the highest quality flour for use in breadmakers.
Carrs Breadmaker flour is available in Sainsbury's, Tesco, The Co-op, E H Booths and independent food stores.
It's very exciting for Carrs to be a partner of the Taste Cumbria festival once again and we'’re impressed by Patrick's baking expertise!
As a major Cumbrian food business it’s important for us to support Cumbrian events that showcase and promote regional food. Carrs will also be at the festival hosting fun and informative breadmaking demonstrations, and the team will be on hand teaching junior chefs how to hand make bread from Carrs flour.
It's a great opportunity to learn how to knead and shape dough then take it home to bake and eat!Neville Sawyers, Area Sales Manager for Carrs
