Harvest Brighton and Hove Project Nominated for National Lottery Award

The Harvest Brighton & Hove project has been nominated for a National Lottery Award.

Harvest Brighton & Hove run a citywide campaign to encourage people to grow their own food.

Through food growing workshops, volunteering opportunities and an unused garden scheme, over 5,000 people have participated in food growing initiatives.

The project has helped to double the number of community gardens in the city and now supports more than 100 school and community gardens.

Local people can get involved through growing at home, volunteering at a food project, coming on a training course, or attending one of the community food events.

The project has helped thousands of people across the city grow their own food through training and volunteering and has been able to support and inspire a growing network of community gardens across the city which now includes 60 spaces.

Harvest is the first ever project to be nominated for this award in Brighton & Hove and the winners of the public vote will be invited to a ceremony broadcast on national TV.
