The Giant Edible Gingerbread House
For three days (3-5 June 2011) children can follow a bread-crumb trail deep into The BRUNSWICK to discover a giant edible gingerbread house – a destination for storytelling, fun and wonderment.
This June, a giant, scrumptious house, made entirely of gingerbread, chocolate and confectionery, will be built in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
Never has the phrase ‘eat yourself out of house and home’ been more appropriate.
Children (and parents alike) will embark on a Hansel and Gretel style adventure, minus the scary, wicked witch, to help raise awareness and money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
Hungry girls and boys will be invited into a magnificent space filled with giant gingerbread men, accordion players and storytellers all acting as Pied Pipers to the visiting children.
The highlight of the event will be the extraordinary giant edible gingerbread house created by Alma-nac Collaborative Architecture, 
which will be covered in three delicious types of tile: gingerbread, vanilla and chocolate short pastry, whilst blue helium balloons with meringue clouds hang from the ceiling.
The magic doesn’t stop there so prepare for lots of surprises including a popcorn popping chimney and furniture made out of chocolate.
Inside, sat on a stool made of sweets, a storyteller will recite mesmerising tales of wicked witches, handsome princes and magical lands. Outside of the story telling sessions an accordion player will be encouraging everyone to listen, dance and sing-a-long to nursery rhymes.
The gingerbread house is situated at the bottom of a sweeping, spiral staircase in the enchanted garden. Instead of grass, scrumptious cupcakes line the lawn and instead of water there is a tasty pond filled with confectionary.
The Queen of sugary, sweet treats Lily Vanilli will be running Gingerbread Men Masterclass where children can get creative and learn how to decorate their own gingerbread shapes to take home and impress their families with. A giant journal - which children are encouraged to write and draw in - will document all the wonderful ideas had over the three days and become one big collaborative story.
The Giant Edible Gingerbread House at The BRUNSWICK promises to be a feast for the eyes as well as the palette and helps raise money and awareness for a fantastic cause.
The Giant Edible Gingerbread House will be open from 11-5pm from 3-5 June.
All funds raised will go to Great Ormond Street Hospitals Children Charity with a minimum donation of just £2 to enter and a further donation of £2 for those wanting to take part in the Gingerbread Men Master-classes.
The Giant Edible Gingerbread House will be around for three days only so get there quick before it’s all eaten up!
