The Galeto Brazilian 'Streatery' is a Feast for the Senses

The Galeto Brazilian 'Streatery' is a Feast for the Senses

You don't have to look far for somewhere to eat when you are popping in and around London. Streets lined with cafés and restaurants can be found at every turn - and good food is bountiful, with many eateries offering a complete range of cultural dishes and delights.

But when you are looking for honestly good Brazilian street food then one of the top places to try is 33 Dean Street, in the heart of Soho, where you will find Galeto - a new 'Streatery' style restaurant bringing Brazilian spice to Soho.

Galeto opened its doors on the 31st May 2013 and was founded by Soho night-life entrepreneur Leo Alexander and Executive Chef Antonio Romani, serving among others a signature dish of 'Galeto'.

Translating into 'little chicken' this dish consists of British Farm Assured chicken that have been halved and marinated in-house for 24 hours. They are then grilled to perfection, served with super fries and a dip of choice. Galeto B

The succulent chicken portions we were served were steeped in flavour and falling off the bone. Perfect for finger dining!

Galeto have brought the carnival to town every day, with brightly coloured wall designs, pre-loved light fittings and a sense of fun and passion for great tasting food.

They have put the party back into social eating, creating a relaxed atmosphere where you are welcome to sit and eat and enjoy the world passing by.

With sensational starters such as 'Coxinhas de frango' (soft potato doughs filled with shredded chicken) to get your taste buds dancing you could be forgiven for dining out on these alone.

The Bolinhos de bacalhau (salted cod fish cakes) left nothing to the imagination and were simply bursting with flavour and texture. If all fish cakes tasted this good we would eat them all day!

Etiquette gives way to sensuality when dining at Galeto and their Caldinho de feijao (spicy bean soup with smoked bacon served in a glass) is as tasty as it sounds; soup served in a glass is a far simpler way to enjoy.Galeto

There is a thinner barrier between you and your food and the connection to what you are eating, the passion and love with which it has been created, is what makes Galeto work.

Marinated chicken hearts, farofa and vinaigrette come together to make their Coração and we would urge you to give this starter a try. It is meaty and has a familiar flavour, once you get past the initial texture of the meat.

Simple sides and salads make a great accompaniment to the 'Galeto' meal and keep it light after the substantial starters. Flavour is obviously paramount to everything that comes out of the kitchen, as well as the experience of authentic Brazilian flavours.

As Antonio says: -

It's about time that we brought a bit of sexiness back to Soho, so we plan to express our passion and fun in both our food and our service.

Pair your meal with a Brahma Brazilian beer or get fruity with Brazil's national Caipirinha cocktail.

With a full menu incorporating 'Sobremesa' (sweet treats to enjoy in that special time after the meal when you celebrate being with your companions) and a selection of 'Bebidas' (wine, beers and cocktails or a selection of soft drinks, coffee or tea) Galeto caters for it all.

So take a trip to Soho and nip into Galeto on Dean Street to join the party!
