Is This The End For GuilFest

Fans flocked to GuilFest's Facebook page yesterday (24th September) as the announcement hit and word spread that GuilFest was no more!

Mixed emotions were displayed through the numerous comments that were left on the official page, with many very sad fans expressing their despair at the news, while others left biting remarks as to the recent acts that had been chosen to perform.

Could this year's weather and what some see as a weak line-up really spell the end of for this great festival?

Many are now praying for a miracle and hoping that GuilFest will be revived in time for 2013, whether through another company stepping into some very big shoes - or the fans themselves coming together and creating a co-operative event.

Whatever happens, 2013 will surely fell the loss of this great festival...

So far, the official GuilFest website bears no announcement but the GuilFest Facebook Page says it all.

Scotty Events Ltd regret to announce that Guilfest has ceased to trade due to poor ticket sales at this year's event in July.

We assess that this was down to the worst weather conditions we have experienced in history of the festival, combined with intense competition presented this year from other events. On-going matters now lie in the hands of the insolvency practitioner Leigh Adams LLP.

Tony Scott and the Guilfest team would like to extend their thanks to everybody who has been involved in working with the festival in its 21 years, the artists who performed and of course the thousands of attendees, without whom none of the events would have been possible. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to organise Guilfest and see it evolve into the renowned festival it has become.
