The Chemical Brothers Headline Wireless
Saturday 2nd July sees The Chemical Brothers headlining at Wireless with Barclaycard 2011!
Rightly considered to be one of the most important and influential dance acts of our generation, Tom Rowlands and Ed Simonds aka The Chemical Brothers have a career streching over 20 years, with five UK number one albums under their belt.
A group at the forefront of the 'big beat' scene in the 1990's they have since developed their sound to incorporate progressive house, breakbeat and trip hop.
Their debut album Exit Planet Dust was released in 1996 to massive critical acclaim, and featured guest spots from the likes of Beth Orton and Tim Burgess, giving them their first UK top ten album and eventually going gold.
It was the Noel Gallagher featuring Setting Sun that provided them with the first major crossover success however, hitting the number one spot and also paving the way for Dig your Own Hole, the band's second album and their first number one - one that would hold the honour of knocking Spice by Spice Girls off the top spot.
The album also featured Block Rockin Beats, a UK number one UK single that also won them a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
They have since had a further four UK number one albums, in the shape of Surrender, Come With Us, Push The Button (which yielded a further two Grammy Awards) and We Are The Night, cementing their status as one of the most important bands of the last twenty years.
