The Cake Boy Himself - Eric Lanlard Heads to Cockermouth
Boasting Madonna, Sir Elton John, Elizabeth Hurley and even Brooklyn Beckham amongst his clientele, Eric Lanlard, master patissier and twice winner of the prestigious Continental Patissier of the Year at the British Baking Awards, has earned himself an international reputation for superlative cakes with a global fan base.
On Saturday September 24, the dashing Frenchman will be heading to Cumbria to delight audiences with live patisserie demonstrations at the popular Taste Cumbria Food Festival, which is to be held for the second year in Cockermouth.
As part of a high-calibre festival line-up of celebrity chefs which includes the Hairy Bikers, Matt Tebbutt and Tom Kitchin, Eric will be taking festival-goers through a glamorous array of mouth-watering recipes and showing his devoted Cumbrian fans the incredible world-class skills and culinary precision that has made him a household name and cake-maker to the rich and famous.
Eric can currently be seen appearing in his Channel Four series 'Baking Mad with Eric Lanlard', which sees him share his tips and skills - teaching keen amateur bakers how to produce mouth watering cakes and desserts with ease and speed.
Having trained in France, Eric moved to London where he ran the patisserie business for legendary chefs Albert and Michel Roux Snr, before launching his own Cake Emporium and Cookery School - Cake Boy - in South West London selling the most delicious and inspiring patisserie and London's 'cutest' cupcakes!
Speaking about his forth-coming appearance at Taste Cumbria Food Festival, he commented:
I am extremely excited about coming to Cumbria and meeting the region’s foodies. The Taste Cumbria festival is a fantastic way of showcasing the region’s culinary delights and I'm looking forward to sharing some of my baking secrets with festival visitors. Who knows - I may pick up a few new ideas myself!
Taking place in Cockermouth on 24 and 25 September 2011, the Taste Cumbria Food Festival is billed as the perfect weekend event for anyone with an interest in regional food and drink, with a wide variety of events and activities taking place throughout the town during the weekend.
