Natural Organic Skincare from Aedos

With three products entered into the 2013 free-from Skincare Awards and Karena Callen, former Beauty Director of ELLE and Red, simply loves Aedos, labelling their products as "beautifully made, and highly effective" the Aedos natural skincare range has some great recommendations.

So we took their Italian Bergamot & Grapefruit Sugar Scrub and Facial Oil for Glorious Normal Skin to our testers for their verdict on this range.

Italian Bergamot & Grapefruit Sugar Scrub - RRP £8.50

Sugar scrubs designed to polish and moisturise your skin leaving it feeling silky soft. Made from British sugar blended with organic shea butter, cocoa butter and cherry kernel oil they provide a deeply nourishing boost for your skin. This luxurious scrub is great as part of a home spa. Suitable for vegans.

Aedos Review AThis sugar scrub has an incredibly 'yummy' lemony smell and we did wonder what it would taste like as it is so wonderfully scented. The scrub is quite thick and easy to transfer from pot to skin without mess - and as it touches the warmth of the skin the oils start to melt and absorb. The sugar is very granulated and does not dissolve on contact like many other sugar scrubs, allowing the time needed to exfoliate before the granules start to dissolve.

We tried the scrub first on dry skin before washing away, then on wet skin in the shower. Opinions were divided as to which worked best but the results were the same - soft fresh smelling skin, pre moisturised by the oils in the scrub. For anyone who uses a non-moisturising body scrub and hasn't the time to moisturise after this would be a great time saver as it combines the two in one.

This scrub is not suitable for use on the face but for the body it leaves glowingly soft skin. Our only negative observations would be that it is a little too oily and leaves a layer in the shower that needs cleaning away after use.

Facial Oil for Glorious Normal Skin - RRP £15.95

Designed to nourish your skin and minimise the appearance of fine lines. Karena Callen, former Beauty Director of Red and ELLE said she is - "...totally addicted to Aedos Facial Oil, £15.95, with cherry kernel oil, evening primrose, organic jojoba and vitamin E, and gorgeous lavender, rose and palmarosa. I mix it with moisturiser for dewy skin during the day, and apply it on its own at night, massaging it in."

The lavender oil is grown in the chalky soil of the North Downs and the evening primrose oil is grown in the UK.

The Facial Oil comes in a lovely dropper pot for easy dispensing and helps avoid over application. A drop or two on the skin affords good coverage and this pot could last you the full six months recommended for use after opening.Aedos Review

It has quite a strong lavender mix scent that doesn't compare to the 'yumminess' of the sugar scrub but it is not unpleasant and once the oils has been absorbed it leaves a more subtle scent.

We would recommend putting a single drop on your finger for application and massaging a drop into each side of the face for best results.

You can control how much oil is added to your skin, allow for absorption and add more as necessary rather than initially finding you have applied to much and overloaded the skin, or wasted the product. Skin feels instantly smoothed and soft.

We think this is best suited as a night time treatment so that your skin can be left to absorb the oil without any added makeup on top, to prevent overloading or clogging your pores but if applied correctly then this should absorb quickly without mess for daytime use.

A good point to note in any skincare application is that less really can be more. If you try a new product and feel it is clogging your skin or a little too expensive for your budget, it is worth considering that you may be using too much of a product and getting adverse results when a little less could save you money and see your skin glow.
