A School Trip Creates A New Company for Frasers Fudj
In 2011, Fraser Bawtree needed some spending money for a French trip with his school. But instead of getting an odd job to tide him over, Fraser created a complete product and registered a Limited company - at the grand age of 11 years old. And now Frasers Fudj is soon to be on its way to a festival near you, in a fully branded, portable Fudj shop.
Fraser has always liked to cook, especially sweet treats like cake and fudge. So when his parents agreed that he could take part in a school trip to France, as long as he raised his own spending money, Fraser got to work in the kitchen.
Over a weekend, he made enough fudge to trial on his family and friends - and after creating a selection of flavour combinations, Fraser had enough fudge to start a small business, selling his wares to raise money for his school trip.
Frasers Fudj comes from Fraser's own personal experience with Dyslexia - and when asked how to spell the word he simply replied F-U-D-J and so Frasers Fudj was born.
And from there to now, Fraser has successfully moved on to launch a crowd funding project, that raised enough money to buy a horse box - currently in the process of renovation. Once complete, this portable Fudj Shop will be available for festivals, events and private hire.
With flavour combinations ranging from Chilli Chocolate to Cherry Bakewell, the butter based fudge contains no palm oil, is suitable for vegetarians and is also gluten-free. Frasers Fudj comes in 135g gift bags, pick 'n' mix style, commercial treat bags and tubs of cubed fudge (for restaurants etc.).
The success of the Kickstarter campaign led to Fraser being invited on to feature on the cover of world famous TIME for Kids magazine. The team behind Fraser is small but efficient and the company is currently arranging distribution outlets throughout the UK.
Looking to the future, Fraser (now 14yrs old) wants his fudge to be packaged in recycled boxes and is already thinking ahead to his companies impact on the environment. And with 10% of gross sales from the company going to the Well Child charity, Fraser is supporting a very worthwhile cause while his company grows.
