NewLeaf Lands Crumpet Deal with Harvey Nichols
NEWLEAF Food Group Specialists has landed a prestigious deal with Harvey Nichols in London.
The company is to supply the Knightsbridge store and its other UK city outlets with luxury foil-wrapped Classic Crumpets.
"The positive response from Harvey Nichols is very encouraging." said Rob Mullen, managing director.
It will sell the luxury crumpets for an exclusive period before they become available in other supermarkets.
NewLeaf is also developing a range of other new products for UK distribution include Xtreme Porridge, Natural Flour, protein bars for athletes and children’s biscuits.
"The amount of positive attention we are getting from the UK’s national trade press and mainstream media is heartening." said the 47-year-old businessman.
"We have just returned from London being profiled by The Grocer magazine which is the Bible of the food and drink industry."
Harvey Nichols will offer the Classic Crumpets - which are also available with added hemp - in their food halls, as well as serving them to customers in their restaurants.
Each box of Classic Crumpets has four foil-wrapped packs containing two crumpets each.
Crumpets have become largely unloved in recent years, nestling unappealingly in cellophane packs which, when opened, quickly dry up and curl. NewLeaf is bringing back the sense of excitement around this traditional teatime treat with a top-quality recipe and upmarket packaging that helps to keep them fresh for longer.
Describing NewLeaf as a “breath of fresh air” for the UK food industry, he explained that its central objective was “to get high quality and innovative food & drink products directly to the most effective markets and profitable outlets.”
“Everything is moving incredibly quickly and we are now being contacted by lots of different food and drink manufacturers in the UK, and even Europe and the United States, asking us to help re-brand their products or tailor them to specific markets.”
