Lucocoa Chocolate: Changing the Chocolate Landscape
It is always a great delight when we discover something new to share - especially when that 'something' is not only new to us, but new to everyone - and when that 'something' is also chocolate we are in our own personal heaven.
So it is a pleasure to announce that not only did we witness, we also sampled chocolate from the launch of Lucocoa Chocolate, at the London Chocolate Festival last month.
Lucocoa Chocolate is an exciting new arrival on the UK chocolate making scene, bringing something genuinely new to the table. All Lucocoa chocolate is made by hand from bean to bar in North London. It contains no refined sugar or artificial sweeteners, instead opting for the healthier alternatives of coconut sugar and the superfood Lucuma.
It is this combination, along with the very individual flavours of the beans, sourced from Madagascar, Colombia, Belize, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, that gives Lucocoa bars their unique taste.
And they don't come any more unique than the Lucocoa's Natural Blonde. Ingredients of coconut sugar, cocoa butter, lucuma and whole milk powder blend perfectly to produce a smooth, creamy caramel texture that appeals to all.
Lucocoa is the brainchild of Ama Uzowuru, conceived in December 2014 and lovingly nurtured since by her and partner Andy Clarke. It opened for business at the Chocolate Festival in Islington at the end of March and received a great reception from trade and public alike.
The company has come a very long way in a short space of time; from no beans to selling 300 bars in just 12 weeks. The journey so far has been fascinating and it has only just begun.
"Between us we've done some pretty interesting things in our careers but nothing compares to the launch of Lucocoa. It's an all-consuming passion that has quite simply taken over our lives, but in a good way! We really believe we have a great product and the encouragement we've received from the industry has been amazing."

Our personal Lucocoa favourite was the 70% Madagascar. Having tried quite a few Madagacan chocolate bars already, and found most not so berry, it was really good to finally appreciate the red berries coming through from the Lucocoa bar.
Amongst a complex and diverse collection of chocolatiers and chocolate at the Festival, Lucocoa stood out as a brand to be keeping an eye on. A good product range, and chocolate that will surely appeal to every chocolate lovers individual taste.
With six different bars to choose from, we are certainly going to have fun with this new range.
