Let's Start a Liberation with New Fairtrade Nuts
Liberation Foods HQ, the UK's first Fairtrade and farmer owned nut company have launched two great tasting snacks and true to Liberation's beliefs, all nuts are sourced from co-operatives of small-scale growers and farmers who own a 44% share of the company.
With peanuts coming from Nicaragua and Malawi and cashews all the way from India, Liberation is passionately nuts about Fair Trade, the livelihoods of its farmers and providing the best tasting product. All nuts are oven roasted to bring out that extra nutty taste and extra crunchy crunch!
Oven Baked Chilli & Lime Cashews with Peanuts & Roasted Corn
Inspired by the colour and flavour of street food in Latin America, sweet cashew nuts are coated in a special chilli and lime seasoning and oven baked slowly. The peanuts are lightly salted and baked. Once the nuts are perfectly seasoned they are mixed in with the chilli corn kernels to create the perfect blend of citrus and spice that will leave taste buds tingling! Great served with a refreshing cold beer.
"This is an odd mix - good but odd. We didn't know what to expect with corn in the mix but it makes a great addition. The lime and chilli combination won't be to everyone's taste but if it is a hit with yours then you are in for a treat. The combination of taste and textures certainly livens up this modest looking snack and will have you dipping back for more."
Oven Baked Salted Cashews & Peanuts
Each ingredient is baked separately with just the right amount of sprinkled salt (that stays on the nut) to produce the perfect 'crunch' and a deeply satisfying savoury hit. Liberation knows that cashews need just a little bit longer under the heat than peanuts and when all are perfectly bronzed, the nuts are cooled before being mixed and bagged. Delicious with a glass of red wine or used as an ingredient in stir-fries or tossed into a 'Thai' inspired salad.
"We found the packet quite plain - and for us that is a good point. You can actually taste the individual nuts and the salt is light and compliments the nuts rather than drowning their taste. This makes them perfect for nibbles with wine and stops you from downing too much 'vino' to wash away the excess salt found in other nut collections. And for adding to food, you know that the salt content has been kept to a good balance so they will not ruin your salad."
Liberation was set up with one simple aim - to bring the producers and consumers of the world together so that everyone gets a fair deal. And you can't say fairer than that.
