Edible Experiences In and Around London
Stuck for ideas on where to eat out? Looking for a foodie event to share with friends? Or simply enjoy the experience of good food from around the world?
Edible Experiences is London's most comprehensive website for listings, reviews and instant-confirmation bookings for foodie events and activities in and around London.
And by 'foodie activities' we mean supper clubs and popups; cooking, baking and butchery classes; all sorts of food and drink tastings, food talks, food-themed walking tours and foraging expeditions.
WenLin Soh and Amir Shamsuddin first got the idea for Edible Experiences when they went backpacking around the world for their honeymoon back in 2009/10.
They wanted to take cooking lessons in various parts of the world but couldn't find any central place or easy way to find the classes or book them.
So they decided to try and build a service that would work the way they wanted it to work. And they are continuously building on this plan every day.
Edible Experiences soft launched in August 2011 with simple listings and reviews, before expanding in April 2012 when they began to offer an instant-confirmation booking platform.
Today they have now got hundreds of delicious events and activities on the 'menu'.
It's free for foodie event hosts to list their events, and now they also have the option to use a ticketing platform.
With a commission charged on each booking successfully sold through the system there is no upfront risk or cost for the host.
Edible Experience were also the ticketing and media partner for Action Against Hunger's Love Food Give Food Supper-heroes three month fundraising campaign, where twelve supper-clubs hosted fundraising dinners for the International child malnutrition aid agency.
At present (November 2012) Edible Experience are currently in the final month of a three month period of Sunday Feasts at School of Wok in Covent Garden. Each Sunday a different supper-club showcases what a big family feast is like from their respective communities.
So far this experience has included Singaporean, Peruvian-Japanese, Italian and Indian food... and with French-Caribbean and Mauritian yet to come, you can still book seats.
