Friendly Sweets

Friendly Sweets

With health issues such as obesity and diabetes becoming increasingly prevalent in the UK, consumers are looking for healthier alternatives when making their purchasing choices. This applies to snacking, where there is a growing move towards products that are better for you.

The Friendly Sweet Company have responded to this demand by producing a range of sweets which offer a number of benefits, while not compromising on the taste and quality you expect in a treat.

The sweets are not only sugar free and contain no artificial flavours or colours, but they are also reduced in calories and contain no gluten, trans fats or hydrogenated fats, making them a truly better sweet.

The range consists of traditional favourites such as chocolate éclairs, mint humbugs, assorted toffee and citrus chews.

The company have already had an excellent response to the sweets since launching at the start of March this year, seeing the sweets gaining distribution in both high street supermarket chains and pharmacy stores.

Since 1996 the number of people diagnosed with diabetes has increased from 1.4 million to 2.6 million and there are more than half a million people with diabetes who have the condition and don’t know it.

By 2025 it is estimated that over four million people will have diabetes. The NHS is spending £1m an hour – 10% of its yearly budget – treating diabetes and its complications, according to the charity.

Statistics like this demonstrate the need to offer consumers healthier products and the great thing about The Friendly range is that people can still feel like they are having a treat, while drastically reducing the negatives associated with sweets.
