Blossom into Spring with the East India Company
Think of the spring season and you think of primroses and snow drops, which is why it is the perfect time to delight in the beautiful flowering teas brought to you by The East India Company.
Not only do these teas look and taste amazing, they are also full of flower power, with high levels of antioxidants which are great for inner health and a real beauty booster for winter worn complexions.
With a fine selection of flowering teas including the Thousand Year Red, which features a round bulb with a gorgeous red centre of the Globe Amaranth flower and white needle tea, as well as Sacred Heart, hand-woven with Orange, Lily, and Jasmine around the flower of the Globe Amaranth, the East India Company has plenty on offer this Spring.
Flower Tower is known in China for its anti-inflammatory properties, improving digestion and a tonic for the skin. Featuring a bud that grows into an intricate tower of flowers in your pot, it makes a wonderful centre piece to any table, as well as being a great tasting tea.
Like the finest wines, some specialist and rare teas are grown in particular areas and harvested only once a year. The following are highly recommended by Lalith Lenadora, official tea master at The East India Company: -
- White Silver Cloud: Silver Needle white tea is one the great China teas and perhaps the best white tea anywhere. Silver Needles are harvested in spring with pickers selecting spring leaf buds. The picking may only take place for only 2 or 3 days a year to ensure the signature of tea is protected. Short fermentation and gentle drying produce an exquisite tea with melon notes of honeydew and cantaloupe; there is no better tea to herald the start of spring and to enjoy over the summer.
- Pedro Orange Pekoe: Pedro is a single estate grown tea, at an elevation of 5,600 feet on Pidurutalagala Mountain in Nuwara Eliya, one of the finest tea producing provinces in Ceylon. It combines fine fragrance, brisk caramel liquor, and a flowery aroma with a truly unique character.
- Min Lan Dan Cong Oolong Tea: Dan Cong is the champagne of oolongs: ripe with intense fruit and sweetness. This Phoenix Honey 2010 Great Taste Award winner is a high grade example and comes from a plantation on the lower slopes of Wu Dong Mountain, Chao Zhou, China. The leaves are thoroughly fermented and baked to produce rich liquor with unique flowery, lychee and honeyed notes that can be enjoyed through multiple infusions. This tea is delicious, fruity, floral and incredibly light.
The East India Company's Chakra Herbal Infusions will support you in establishing a tranquillity of spirit and are so delightful that you may simply care to drink them for their remarkable flavour combinations alone.
