This Summer Manchester Becomes a Garden City

Manchester's urban gardening festival 3rd - 11th August 2013...

From King Street to the Cathedral, via fine food, flowers and a fête, with markets, workshops and public art - join Manchester's urban gardening festival 'Dig the City'.

Supported by the National Trust, this event will inspire visitors as it transforms the city centre into a natural wonderland.

Horticultural highlights include a pop-up park and workshops with TV gardener Monty Don, presenter of BBC Gardener's World. There will also be a fine food market, stunning art by New York's Jason Hackenworth, the National Trust's "50 things to do before you're 11 ¾" campaign for kids, Dig The Cityplant-swops, craft markets, and an urban twist on a traditional country fair.

As the festival blossoms across the city, and takes in King Street, St. Ann's Square, New Cathedral Street, Exchange Square and Cathedral Yard, so too will nine days of unexpected things to do - after work, at the weekend and in the holidays.

Dig the City is an annual urban gardening festival that brings the city alive with colourful displays and special events.

Dig the City Manchester 2012 staged many exciting events and displays, including a flower festival at Manchester Cathedral, activities at Manchester Arndale, the National Football Museum and Corn Exchange and pop up allotments, flower markets and other gardening activities in the surrounding areas of Exchange Square, Cathedral Gardens and Victoria Street.
