Love Food Festival Game Cookery Special

Love Food Festival Game Cookery Special

With just over three weeks to go Love Food Festival is busy putting together a carefully selected timetable of game cookery demonstrations that will empower people to cook with game, and shine the light on some lesser known but delicious ingredients.

Cookery school 'Hendra Barns' will be bringing their very own butcher along to teach people how to prepare a pheasant and rabbit from field to oven, covering everything from skinning and plucking to choosing the right herbs and flavours.

Cookery lessons will include how to make pheasant goujons and other game dishes, with 'Forage Fine Foods' Liz Knight demonstrating some delicious wild food sauces, bastes and sides to go along with the rich selection of game on offer.

All experts will be on hand throughout the day to give tips and advice on cooking with game and wild food as well as some free recipe booklets to take home, courtesy of 'Game-to-Eat'.

Cookery lessons aside, this Love Food Festival will be jam-packed with a great selection of game.

Warm up with a game stew and jacket potato or try some of 'Old Sodburys' delicious Badminton Hall venison burgers. Tuck in to some duck or glazed quail with quails eggs, or if that doesn't tempt you then head over to 'Hendra Barns' and try some slow spit-roasted venison.

For those feeling very daring, there is even 'Lovetts' squirrel, mushroom, wild garlic and truffle oil pie as well as a selection of pheasants, rabbits, venison and squirrel available to buy and prepare at home yourself.

On hand for the herbivores will be homemade hummus, sun-dried tomatoes and freshly stone baked pittas as well as some delicious Thai street food, Indian curries and crispy sweet churros with chocolate dipping sauce.

The market will be full of delicious local produce, including 'The Garlic Farm', 'MyStir' personalised tisanes, cheddar cheeses by 'Greens of Glastonbury' and 'Faithfulls' award-winning loaf cakes, all to wash down with some homemade apple juices and freshly brewed coffees.

Do not miss 'Dick Willows' very special apple scout tent, equip with Neston Estate cheese, award-winning ciders and a whole lot of cider enthusiasm. A barrel of apples and a handmade apple press will keep children happy as they can have a go at making their own juice.

With bow and arrow making workshops, nature drawing lessons, face painting and acres of woodland for children to run around in there will be plenty for children to do at this game-special Love Food Festival.

Why not even check out the 'Circle of Seasons' exhibition in the house to really make the day as full and informative as possible.
