Dave Hill to Lead Childline Rocks Guitar Challenge

Dave Hill to Lead Childline Rocks Guitar Challenge

The Midlands' own Dave Hill, legendary guitarist from Slade, is to launch the Childline Rocks' Guitar Challenge for a Guinness World Record on the 14th October 2012.

Taking place at Coventry's Ricoh Arena on Sunday afternoon several hundred guitarists of all types and ages will attempt to break a Guinness World Record for The Most Guitar Amplifiers Used Simultaneously.

The event is being staged in support of ChildLine.

Dave Hill is no stranger to working with young people having devoted time in the past to teaching music to Special Needs children.

I'm very happy to be coming along on Sunday. It's a great cause and I totally support it. It'll also be great to have all those guitarists playing at once!

In addition to the Guinness World Record attempt there will be a competition for the fastest guitarist in the house plus Childline Records for The Largest Electric Guitar Ensemble; The Largest Music Lesson (led by ace guitarist Soren Anderson); and The Largest Air Guitar Ensemble. Sponsors include Yamaha, Marshall Amps and Classic Rock magazine.

Three unsigned bands will kick off the proceedings at 1pm and the Guinness World Record attempt is expected to take place around 3pm.

Doors open at 12pm.

Entry is just £30 which covers admission for the player PLUS a non-playing guest and also contributes to the cost of a Marshall MS2 guitar amp which all players can take home with them.
