Darjeeling Express Calcutta pop-up lunch at The Cinnamon Club
For the first time ever, Chef Vivek Singh of the prestigious Cinnamon Club is opening up his kitchen and dining room to an "outsider" to guest chef for an afternoon.
That pop-up chef is none other than Asma Khan, who runs the immensely popular Darjeeling Express Indian supperclub.
Edible Experiences is honoured to be the exclusive ticketing partner for the Darjeeling Express-Cinnamon Club pop-up lunch on 27th April 2013.
With Potato and Peas Samosas, Chicken Seekh Kabab and Salmon and Dill Fish Cake canapés to whet your appetite, followed by Black Tail Tiger Prawns, Okra Boats and Steamed Nepali Momo with Green Himalayan Chutney for starters, we recommend viewing the full menu and booking tickets to this 'one-day only' event.
When Asma Khan moved to the UK in 1991, as the good wife of a Cambridge scholar, she could not even boil an egg. She spent her first two years in the country eating salad and her husband's chicken curry. In her own words "life was not worth living."
In 1993 Asma travelled back to India to spend time in her ancestral kitchens, and over the course of a few months mastered recipes that have been in her family for four generations. The food comes straight out of the Nawabi/Mughal school of cuisine which is part of her heritage.
Since that day, Asma decided to turn her new skill into a life of working 24/7, swapping her brocade kurtas for kitchen whites.
Embark on an incredible edible journey with Darjeeling Express in the private dining room at The Cinnamon Club, discovering the city's authentic cuisine transplanted to this stunning London venue.
