Chocolate Ecstasy Tours To Offer New Weekday Tours This Summer
Charlie & The Chocolate Factory is in full swing at the Theatre Royal, but it's not going to be enough to just watch Charlie's chocolate adventure.
Sadly there are no chocolate factories in operation in London any more but thankfully Chocolate Ecstasy Tours offers fantastical tours of London's weird and wonderful chocolate shops, sampling delicious treats along the way.
And this Summer there are more tours than ever.
Chocolate Ecstasy Tours are all about tasting variations of chocolates you would typically get in a chocolate box: truffles, caramels, fondants, creams and pralines. But these aren't just standard chocolates, guests are likely to encounter Wonka-esque treats as well. Popping candy caramel or a goats cheese truffle, anyone?
Chocolate Ecstasy Tours are definitely not formal; they have been likened to a "chocolate adventure" where guests get to capture the feeling of being a "child in a sweet shop", discovering new tastes.
Each tour starts with an indulgent hot chocolate and an introduction to chocolate and then more fun facts - on both chocolate and London - is delivered en route by friendly and entertaining guides.
Most importantly, the mission is that by the end of the tour each guest is completely chocolate-ed out. In fact, if they'’re not, the guide will provide more chocolate.
There are always savoury crackers on hand too - in case it all gets a bit much!
The tours were originally designed with adults in mind but plenty of children as young as seven have come along over the years and thoroughly enjoyed themselves too.
All of the chocolate locations visited on the tours use premium chocolate with no unnecessary vegetable fats or artificial flavourings and a lot less sugar than corner shop chocolate bars.
Many of the chocolates are handmade in London by award-winning chocolatiers.
Guests are bound to try something new and exciting, whether that be the Queen's favourite chocolate, a Peanut Butter & Jelly truffle or a Fig & Walnut Praline.
Chocolate Ecstasy Tours was founded in 2005. Since then the number of wonderful chocolate shops in London has grown and so have the tours.
There are now three regularly run tours: the Mayfair tour, which is perfect for the milk chocolate lover; the Chelsea tour for burgeoning chocolate connoisseurs; and the Evening tour for those who love chocolate with everything - where guests will try chocolate drinks, truffles, ice cream, bars and a bespoke chocolate cocktail (or mocktail).
For committed chocoholics there is the whole day tour experience that starts with a pain au chocolat for breakfast, pauses for a two course lunch and finishes with a glass of wine, accompanied by even more chocolate.
