16th National Curry Week to Help Add That Touch of Spice

The 16th National Curry Week will be celebrated all over Britain from 7th-13th October 2013, underlining how much we, as a nation, still like a touch of spice in our lives.

Latest figures from The NPD Group Inc, a global information company, indicate that the UK's ethnic takeaways and restaurants have suffered a decline of 123 million fewer visits over the past three years.

However, during the same time period, sales of spicy foods in supermarkets have soared showing the ever growing demand for that curry fix.

Almost all of this loss was due to the decline in evening dining visits to ethnic restaurants rather than takeaways, as households continue to experience economic pressures and look to enjoying their curry fix at home, keeping restaurant visits as treats and for special occasions.

Over the years, National Curry Week has reflected the swing in Britain's curry market and, with the support of lead partner Patak's for the third year running, this year’s event will encourage people to enjoy Britain’s favourite dish at home, in restaurants or pubs, as a supermarket ready meal or takeaway, Top chefs from all over the world will be supplying recipes for a new ebook with proceeds going to the Find Your Feet charity and food expert Anjali Pathak will again have some mouthwatering recipes available free online.

The event just gets more and more exciting. We have some great new events such as Pub of the Year and the Poppadomathon to raise money for charity and the Curry Capital of the Year, announced recently, will again attract followers in their hundreds of thousands
