Food on the Move for the Gluten Free Consumer

Food on the Move for the Gluten Free Consumer

GF Foods (York) Ltd is pleased to announce that leading online supermarket, Ocado, will be stocking its FEEL FREE range of gluten free savoury pastry products.

Leading the way in the gluten free sector, GF Foods is delighted to be working with Ocado.

For those following a gluten free diet the "food to go" and snack offering is currently very limited so Ocado's timing will be excellent ahead of the summer months.

The Freedom range will give great choice for picnics and days out for all the family.

Sally Allister, Managing Director, says this is a really positive step, both in a professional capacity, and as a consumer of gluten free foods, due to being diagnosed Coeliac 10 years ago.

We are really pleased that Ocado would like to stock our FEEL FREE Freedom range, in particular because the products are chilled, as there is very little choice currently. From a personal point of view it would be great to see more availability of gluten free products for consumers looking for snacks and ready meals. FEEL FREE, has found most of its success to date in frozen products, however the market is growing and with that the need for different products to meet the demands of people with busy and hectic lifestyles.

The FEEL FREE Freedom range includes Chicken & Mushroom and Beef & Mushroom Pies, Cheese & Onion Quiche, Pork Pie and a Sausage Roll. All are individual wrapped in a single portion size.

The Free From market is growing in the UK, in the last 2 years the market has seen a 32% increase in retail sales, with an estimated retail value of £135 million in 2011 in gluten and wheat free alone.

Up to 45% of the UK population now have a food allergy or intolerance; further to this its estimated that 1% of the UK population have Coeliac Disease, a further 10% following a gluten free diet as a lifestyle choice.

GF Foods, gluten free food business doubles in size

GF Foods (York) Ltd, sets to move to a new site incorporating its sales, warehouse and operations functions into the new location. The new site is more than double the current space with room to continue to steep growth the business has experienced this year so far.Gf Foods Logo

In a year with businesses in the area generally finding things tough, GF Foods has recruited within its Sales, Warehousing & Operations functions already this year and is expecting further growth once the move to the new site has completed later this month. The recruitment has also included an Apprentice who is now studying towards qualifications in Business Administration & IT.

We have been looking for a larger premises for some time, the new site is ideal as it provides enough space for us to house wholesale business and the consumers who we look after via the Gluten Free Direct website.

We expect the service we provide to our customers, both business and consumers to continue to exceed expectations by working smarter having our resources, stock & personnel under the one roof.

Sally Allister, managing director of GF Foods

The new site will also include a state of the art Development Kitchen for Sally to continue her work as a Chef, developing new recipes to add to the FEEL FREE range.

The range currently includes savoury pastries, Italian dishes, Breads & classic desserts. Recent developments have not only seen impressive gluten and wheat free dishes that are unrivalled in the marketplace but also industry first packaging which reduces any risk of contamination with non-gluten free products.

GF Foods' continuous growth through these difficult trading times can partly be put down to the business investing in the Goldman Sachs Business Leaders scheme, which Sally has been part of since its inception in 2011.
