Expertly Selected Craft Beer from The Other Brew
You only have to take a quick look down the beer aisle in your local supermarket to see just how much growth is happening in the world of Craft Beer. And with demand increasing it is good to see that companies like The Other Brew are making the search for a greater selection so much easier.
As a monthly subscription service, The Other Brew delivers some of the tastiest beer currently being produced in the UK and package it up for you to enjoy. Once a month they deliver a box of six expertly selected Craft Beers direct to your door for only £18 per month (P&P included) - that works out as a very respectable £3 per beer!
We were given the chance to try this month's selection of six and have to say we were really impressed. Each and every bottle was a new discovery, a craft beer we had not previously encountered. And although not every one was to our individual tastes, collectively we all found at least two that we would claim for our own enjoyment, given the chance again.
Our sample selection included: -
- Sail Ale 4% Rebel Brewing Company. Penryn. Cornwall. This is a refreshing and light Golden Ale. Zesty on the nose, with a hint of citrus to the taste, accompanied by a clean finish.
- Chestnut Porter 5.2% Belleville Brewing Co. London. A dark beer for the warm nights. Malted grain, hops, yeast, water and roasted chestnuts.
- Southpaw 4.2% Gypsy Hill Brewing Company. South London. Amber Ale. South London Brewery specialising in making full flavoured beer below 5%.
- Dark Matter 6.8% Chorlton Brewing Co. Manchester. This beer is really dark, sour, a bit salty and pretty strong. Unfiltered. Unpasteurised. Unfined.
- West Coast Pale Ale. 4.7% ShinDigger Brewing Co. Manchester. American hops, water, barley and yeast. The company ethos is that beer is all about having a good time with your friends and enjoying the moment.
- Shankar IPA 5.9% Great Heck Brewing Co Ltd. North Yorkshire. This pale ale represents a place where English craft brewing, oriental intensity and rock 'n' roll meet. A seriously fruity, hoppy, pale beer with a clean, zesty finish.
The Other Brew offered us a selection of dark, 'hoppy' beers; malty, heavy and full bodied, that pleased the more educated craft beer drinkers amongst us. And the lighter, crisp brews that sat well with those less inclined to drink bottled beers were a pleasing discovery.
Having been at pains to make a choice on something new in the local supermarket aisle, and in many of the smaller off-beat shops that offer such a selection of beers, it was a welcome change to have The Other Brew do the hard work of finding something new for us to try.
If you are already a craft beer fan or simply want to explore some new and exciting selections then you can relax and let The Other Brew do the leg work for you, so that you can kick back and simply enjoy the results.
